Default back-up warning does not work

I just got a 2001 XKR convertible with some issues. I already fixed the ABS module. I still need to replace convertible hoses and the front suspensions ball joints and probably tie-rod ends. One of the minor things is that the back-up warning system does not work. I cannot find any source for troubleshooting it. Does anyone experienced the same?

What do you mean by not working? Does it give you a solid tone when you put it in reverse? Does it give any tone at all? An easy way to check if one of the sensors isnt working, you can take a stethiscope, take the metal rod out so you just have to hose part connected to your ears. Turn the ignition on, dont need the engine running, put park brake on, and place in reverse. Then take the end of the hose and place it over the sensor, you should hear some ticking noises, similar to that of a fuel injector, if you get one that isn't ticking, that's the faulty one. If you know anyone who has access to SDD or WDS, you can run datalogger and watch to see which one isn't reading properly. Also, if the sensor has been hit, can cause the sensor to fail. It doesn't take much of a hit either to make them not work. SO if you do get a solid tone when you put it in reverse, it means there is a faulty sensor, and you can try the method I described first. If there is no tone at all, then we need to look further into to, such as checking all the fuses, even the module itself to see if it has corrosion in it. I believe the module sits in the trunk, left hand side, where the spare tire sits.

Key search term is "reverse park sensors". Start car and turn to off with car in reverse. Turn ign key to positon 3 ,set parking brake, and go to rear of car. Use a hose or other device to listen to each sensor. The good ones emit a faint "CLICKING" whereas the dead one does not. I did searches on Google and found many articles on this subject. E-Bay has some inexpensive China vendors that sell sensors made in Germany. $20 or less and you can have a good sensor. I bought one of each as a Test for quality. Same as Ford,BMW,Mercedes and a few other European cars. They just don't list fitting the Jaguar. :-)

Unfortunately the Reverse Parking Aid system for early cars (X100/X308) is NOT on the network and does not log fault codes like the X400, X200, X350 etc.

You are going to have to manually diagnose like kstevusa stated.

The electrical guide (Figure 19.1) has all the component locations listed.
The 'tone generator' is incorporated in the Reverse Parking Aid Module (spare wheel well).
The sounder (speaker) is under the center console cubby.

Trying to repair the car without the electrical guide is going to be very frustrating.

The rear section of the centre console comes off, just pull gently as the speaker is on the underside of the cover. Maybe it's not plugged in?

I have a solid tone for about 3 or 4 secs. I have checked the sensors with a stethoscope and don't hear clicking from any of them.
Does the solid tone come from the same speaker? Hence all four sensors must be faulty or could it be the module?

I have read tat the module is in the RHS of the boot, but where exactly is it?
