Bad Tatas
Consumer Reports just published their list of most (and least) reliable cars for the 2012 model year.
The absolute worst in reliability: The 2012 Jaguar XF
The second worst in reliability: The 2012 Jaguar XJ
Geez. I'm glad the Jag I know and love was produced between the British Leyland and Tata eras. Although my coupe does have it's own "quirks," shall we say.

that 'consumer reports' might not be too objective.
Here in Europe all you hear is very possitive. better built then BMW or Mercedes, better handling etc etc.
Don't forget what the US car manufacturers looked like 3 years ago.
So they need all the help they can get.
If they are going to promote the foreign cars especially these good looking and good handling ones, the local manufactures will never gain.

Thanks guys for the sentiment but I don't fancy moving to Birmingham (and I don't mean Alabama)!
The Coventry plant (Browns Lane) closed down in 2005, so I guess the XK (X100) was one of the last to roll out of there, Jaguars and now made at the new plant in Birmingham and Liverpool, perhaps that explains some of the build quality, no offence to those brummies and scousers out there

british layland was a nationalised company owned by the taxpayers it included jaguar cars .. around the 1970s..it was destroyed by continuous strikes..the main company was at longbridge home of austin motors later mg/rover..red robbo..derick robinson was the union main man and called strikes for any reason..the bodys of all the cars they made was inferior metal and were rot boxes..in its day britain was the worlds biggest car exporter but unions detroyed it.it went from austin motor co..bmc..british layland..blc..austin/rover most the cars they made were crap.
