BaT auction prep
I'm a long time lurker and very much appreciate all the knowledge I've gained from the forum members here. Getting ready to sell my '06 XKR on the Bring a Trailer website and they can get kinda sticky with certain problematic aspects of the XK8/XKR models. So I am looking for advice on how much preparation to do before putting my baby up for auction. The main questions usually center around the timing chain and convertible top hydraulics. To my knowledge, neither has been replaced and are not problematic. Do buyers need to be concerned - at 85,000 miles - with either of these? Is there an easy way to tell if previous repairs have been done or a way to inspect and know if repairs need to be done? Thanks!

You should not be surprised to learn your post was automatically locked for moderation as the title makes it appear to be a "For Sale" advertisement. I've removed the identical version you posted in X150 forum.
The final production X100 vehicles manufactured in 2005 have fourth generation metal tensioners which removes concerns about failure with the original plastic and subsequent second and third generation tensioners fitted to the 4.0 litre engine version.
If I were in the market for a late X100, I would be far more concerned with the service history and, at 85K miles, if maintenance had included a transmission fluid and filter change.

Yes, but you know what you are talking about. Unfortunately most of the ''peanut gallery'' of these sort of sale site dont.

I love BAT and am a daily visitor there. I have learned a lot from some of the experts on various makes and have used that information when purchasing several cars. However the site isn't always kind to modern Jaguars and there are many stereotypical questions and comments. Set a reasonable reserve and make yourself available throughout the auction to answer questions. The auctions on BAT are as much about the seller as they are the car. Good luck

Thanks, Graham. I was not aware of the transmission fluid and filter change maintenance recommendations and did some reading about it just now. I like to do what I can myself and dropping the pan to replace the filter is NOT something I care to attempt based on the "PITA" that gets quoted frequently by those who've done it. I have a spotless garage floor and would just be tempting fate. Maybe I'll replace the fluid, though, and if it looks really bad, take it to a pro for the filter R&R. Thanks again.

Limited Editions of the X100 don't usually command a premium in the used market but the Victory Edition was special for three reasons:
1. the run-out model
2. a genuine "limited" production
3. had all the "extra" options fitted as standard
I had the European equivalent in Coupe form. Here it was known as the 4.2-S Final Series. Same specification vehicle but the name wasn't quite so snappy.
Good luck with the sale.
