BBS montreal wheel photos without trim ring
I have a set of Montreal wheels that I need to refurbish, I am thinking of removing the chrome trim ring and then having the whole wheel powdercoated, leaving the trim off.
I have read posts where people have said that they have done it before, but I would like to see what the wheel looks like without the trim, I don't want any big gaps left behind.
Thanks!!

Although these are not Montreals, I do have a couple of pics of my Perseus wheels powder coated without trim rings. These may be of some help as the barrel and gap should be similar, if not identical. Personally, and I may be in the minority here, I like the look. The first pic is a bit blurry, sorry about that.

thats exactly what i was looking for, thanks!!
Your wheels looks great, i think that they look just as good without the trim, and since i will be powder-coating anyway, i don think that you will ever be able to tell its not there.
did you powedercoat them with the two parts of the wheel separate, or while it was all bolted together?
Thanks,
Ben.

These particular wheels were purchased used "refurbished". Hard to say if the wheels were disassembled prior to finishing but as far as I can tell, from the consistently of the finish and the area around each bolt, it appear these were disassembled prior to powder coating. There is a video in the forum about refitting new trim rings and the technique required to disassemble and reassemble would be the same except for the refitting of the trim ring.

Nope, painted. The centres unbolt, you need an M8 spline bit to remove the 19? Ti bolts, they're threadlocked so heat might be required to move them. Once the centre is out, they can be painted. The tricky one is the valve tube, this will need a new rubber seal on assembly.

I have mine done w/out the trim ring as well. I've been having cupping issues at the front, and I thought it's due to alignment. I had that corrected but the front tires were done so I bought a pair of replacement.
At the tire shop, when the new ones were about to be balanced, found out that the front wheels were bent. I have them fixed by AWRS (Alloy Wheel Repair Specialist) and they offered me to get the fronts done w/out the trim ring.
First picture is the front (w/o trim ring), the second is the rear (w/ trim ring). It's hard to spot the difference - which is the exact point.

The SuperSports are without a doubt the best tires I have ever had. Words cannot even describe the grip, ride quality and quietness.
I recently had the rear pinion seal repaired and my mechanic, who also services Aston Martins and prepares customer cars for vintage racing, mentioned the tires being tremendous. He went romping around on a damp morning and couldn't get them to break grip without a lot of effort.
Now that I have expienced these I will not recommend anything else.
