Default Bearing issue?

RJAG, you may want to start a new thread on your issue. Sound's like brgs to me. I no my fronts never made noise when they went bad. Only way I found it was the wiggle test. Plus having the coupe I'd be suprised if you'd hear a noise. I know with the top up I don't hear my rattle.

Maybe a tech will chime in and let you know.

OK, while searching for the dull rattle in the left rear of my car I found that the wheel can be wiggled about an 1/8th to 3/16th with a hand at 12 and 6. There is no grinding noise. Perhaps a bearing???

As I have said before the 12 to 6 on the rear is normal. And as you have also discovered there is no movement from 3 to 9.

I just had a full alignment at the dealer and asked them to check this exact issue. They said it is normal and everything aligned fine.

Thanks. That's good news and bad news. Good that I don't have to replace a $100 set of roller bearings and bad news that I can't yet solve my dull rattle in the rear with a $100. Gladly would have.

A dull rattle doesn't sound like wheel bearings, but clearly it is caused by something ! There are a number of suspension bushes that could do this, or even a loose exhaust pipe.

read: Hey, rear end noise is gone! ; by DpezXK8 last post on this forum. He had a rear end noise that was traced to the e-brake linkage.
