Default Before Axle muffler removal/XK Unlimited install

I know there are all kinds of posts about XKR exhaust mods..I am unable to locate anything about my specific questions..So here goes-I bought the XK Unlimited performance replacement over the axle pipes for my 2000 XKR convertible. No trouble removing the rear mufflers, and it became apparent you have to remove the forward section to facilitate the removal of the before axle mufflers/over axel pipes. now for the question..I could not remove the assembly..I had to cut it into sections. first problem was the hanger pin wouldn't go aft enough to come out before the rear section of the pipe hit the structure, so I unbolted the mount the pin went into then I could move it around, but the assembly would not fit out going forward. Anybody else experience this? I don't much care about the rusty old stuff, but granted the new pipes have no muffler, but I haven't tried to install them yet I sure hope the fit! It appears they install from the back? I'm hoping someone has installed these and can confirm installation.
Thanks in advance!

Default It tilted 45deg forward

Just did this modification. I remember working blind to remove the hanger mount bracket bolts as you’ve done. To remove/install the over axle pipe you’ll need to tilt it forward approx 45deg down.

I used a car lift so had plenty of space. Thus I suspect you may be having difficulties because you’re on jack stands.

DavidYau,

Thanks for your input...and you are correct I have my car on jack stands at a height of 22". Just high enough to squeak the right pipe in after I moved the right rear jack stand forward, the left side went right in no issues..Glad those are in. I'm curious what the rest of your exhaust consists of? my plan was to leave the forward single muffler installed, straight through new over axel pipes and put the stock mufflers back on at the end..Not sure how that will sound but I guess I'll find out!

Well done and hope your exhaust sound improves. I had been looking forward to my exhaust upgrade for a while. Just updated my thread - link below - for details and pictures.
