I think you answered your own question

If you don't want drone you definately need to leave or replace the resonator boxes at the back, if I was you I would replace the cats, leave the centre box, get some over axel pipes removing the 2 boxes in front of the axel and squashed pipe and keep the rear boxes with some nice tips.

If you have an 8 you will need to replace the rear boxes either to R boxes or aftermarket, otherwise you wont get a decent tip on the end.

Am with XKRacer regarding droning. The droning with the x-pipe was to loud as it only uses glass pack rear exhaust box. I would have to go to a resonater system (just like jaguars, or a bafled type), and as I did't want to poor in more mony into the exhaust I sold it.

Default Reviving a dead thread. . .

I was just wondering how many out there have installed the downpipes yet and, if so, are there any verdicts as to performance changes (either by the butt-o-meter method or, preferably, dyno numbers)?

So nobody out there has anything definite to report?

Steve--I guess I missed your posts first time around. Looking at your base versus the downpipe runs, unless I am missing something it looks like there are essentially NO differences.

Look again...there were differences:
331 vs 323 peak HP, 325 vs. 316 peak ft-lbs on the first comparison (rounded, at the wheels)

331 vs 320 peak HP, 319 vs 313 peak ft-lbs torque on the second comparison (rounded, at the wheels)

Certainly not dramatic, but there are small gains, in the neighborhood of Nameless' claims....and they sound great.

These differences seem similar to what you would get from performing a number of baseline runs--basically within a margin-of-error. Nevertheless, I will probably end up getting these for the improved sound (although I hope it is not too objectionable) plus the slight performance gain.
