£600 repair for the rust you have does not equal concourse, also an Ariel delete does not equal concourse. Anyway no more to be said on that from me.

The windscreen surround to be done properly is also a big job unless he plans to mask round the rubber and spray, but that does not equal concourse, oops.

Definitely no more to be said on that from me.

Either way its still probably cheaper than new as your looking at more than £300.

See how to repair yours here https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/x...2/#post1289117

Hi geezee,
As the boot will still open with a screwdriver, you may only need to replace the lock barrel. Here's a snippet from the JEPC showing it (#4):

Jaguar part number is HNA7211AA trunk lock barrel, although the price will make your eyes water and you may end up needing a key to go with it. Suggest you look for a second-hand unit (Ebay, junkyard, etc.)

If you drop into a dealership with your VIN number and some proof of ownership, they should be able to give you the 4-digit code for the radio.

Your car does indeed look very tidy; sadly the panel design and assembly of the XK, together with the UK penchant for dumping huge amounts of salt on the highways, is an unhappy mix. There's never an easy way to deliver bad news.
Do get the additional areas checked that Race Diagnostics has noted, as he has been there, done that and doubtless has a wardrobe full of tee-shirts to prove it. Rot around the subframe mounts can be serious and needs proper repair.

HTH,
Mike

Default Much appreciated

Thank you Race and Mike for your last comments. Perhaps I will not have the money to get it to a concourse standard. However, I will try. I do wish to keep the car in its original form. Although in my opinion the antenna detracts from the lines of the car.

The paint sprayer said he would remove the window trims. However, I have read in another forum that some people do it themselves.
With mine being a 2000 model, what years would fit mine if I managed to get second hand ones

I have found the following item on eBay and wondered if it would be what I need Mike?

The front windscreen trim is the same across all years until the very late cars which I think were black rather than grey. Its is very unlikely that you will be able to find a good set second hand as they all perish the same way. You can repair your self on the car, but to do the job properly you should remove from the car and remove the rubber to do it properly as per the link above. You need to be very careful when removing the trim from the windscreen as the clips that hold it in place are very brittle and prone to snapping off.

You should also do up the car the way you want it rather than some judge wants to see it, its you that counts here.

I think an aerial delete is a good move but getting a good radio signal afterwards is not that easy. A cheaper alternative is just to disconnect the power to the aerial motor of course.

I have been looking at these for my SL but its a lot to pay to find out its not any good.

That's a good find as it looks like you assemble the barrel mechanism so that you can use your existing key. If it does what it says on the tin then it's a perfect solution.

If you're striving for originality you could retain the antenna and put a switch in the power feed. There are a few here who have done that as it gives you the best of both worlds and it is, erm, rather on the long side. On my list of 'to do' stuff.

I'd suggest that you try to find out some of the car's history if possible. In the UK, you can enter your registration number here: https://www.check-mot.service.gov.uk...822.1468352919
It will give you an indication of how the car has fared in past MOT tests (at least back to 2005).

Are you using her as a daily driver or is this a project?

Thank you for the recent advice. I have ordered the lock mechanism and will try to fix over the next week or so. After thinking about the direction to go in with the car and taking on board what you said race, I have decided to go with the changes I would like rather a judge.
My brake callipers are in need of attention. I have ordered a specialist paint and will hopefully make them look a lot more tidy.
Thanks, Zack

Default Boot lock

Hi, the boot lock has arrived today

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/152246593233

And it may as well be a bunch of 0' and 1's.

I am not sure how to put this together in order for my existing key to work. I would really appreciate any assistance. Possible YouTube clips would be great

Thanks, Zack
