Is there any preventive work that can be done or a less expensive repair if caught early. Or just do not worry about it because if it going to fail you will know it when it happens and you will be out the cost of an engine then anyway??

In my opinion! If you own the car and it has not given you any problems you should be OK. You should check for the reflashing / reprograming TSB, change the oil on a schedule and use a fuel or fuel additive that will keep your engine running clean. Now several people have suggested using an oil additive and I can go along with it but I try not to recommend anything I do not use. With that being said if you elect to use an additive check the history on it. I found one of the older additives has several lawsuits against it. I also have a person using another additive to test it and tell me what he thinks. One person who I respect is giving it high marks, I just want another opinion before I put it on my page. If you have a car that has had a problem starting do the above and when I get the stamp of approval I will post the additives. Others may chime in!
