Brake Caliper Paint

I wanted to share with the members my recently re-painted brake calipers on my 2001 Jaguar XKR Coupe. I used Dupli-Color Brake Caliper Paint kit in the silver color to paint the calipers. I especially like the bright sheen the paint has versus the flat original metal color. I used the silver color to match the Platinum color of the car and not to draw too much attention to the wheels. I am very pleased with the new appearance. Note the picture comparison below.

The previous owner had them done in CA. Original painted rims were exchanged for the chromed ones. Purchased from Flips Tire Center in Simi Valley for $627.85 on 11/11/04. I called them on 7/09 and on that date they had rears in stock at the plater.

I have 2002 XKR.... I was looking to upgrade the brake system.. ($15,000.00 + for drill rotor and Brembo kits)
I think, factory brake works great... but, it does not look good for performance car "R"
and I don't want to spent $15,000 for just for the "looks"
and painting the brake calipers... looks cheap for Jag XKR.
I found the brake caliper cover on ebay for ($200+) and it looks great on it.
I was worry about.... it looks fake, but no one... even "car guys"...look at my wheels and tell me... my "Brembo caliper" looks good on my car.... (I don't say.. it real or not... I just say " thanks")
You can paint the caliper... or buying brake caliper cover is other choice (be sure to buy the expensive one)
you guy can look at my photo albums... I will post "close shot on my wheels" later.

Dupli-color Caliper paint kits are great for the DIY guys. They are easy to use with minimun prep and tape work since you use a brush.I did my first try with silver which give a nice finish look over the flat metal of the original caliper. Then less then two years later I decided to repaint them red and I am happy with the look, they are the real Jaguar calipers that are red.I looked at it this way, there are red Jags,Silver Jags,Black Jags some with Black Interiors other that are oatmeal etc.and I now have red Calipers and am pleased with the finished product.Someday I may repaint them again, who know what color I will go with, but this kit is easy to use and at a reasonable price.

Razorxl,
I'm new here and just finding my way around.
I don't want to hijack the thread but would like to ask you about the caliper covers you got. I have a 2006 XJ-8 and would like red "Brembo like " caliper covers. The cheap ones have to be glued on with silicone. Did yours have proper attachment clips? I can't find a Jag specific set. Help please?
Will

I did not glued the cover... I just drill two screw to hold the cover. Since, cover is light weight.. it's easy to screw on it. And it will make much easier to take it off for break service.
