Brake switch replacement

A genuine switch has the bracket already on it so, yes, you would undo the two nuts on top of the brake pedal tower. You may need a hand when putting it back together to line up the holes. ALSO, make sure the brake pedal is pressed down when you are installing the switch and do not release it until the nuts are tight. Only once I got lucky installing it alone, every other time I needed someone to guide the studs through the holes.

There are several very good threads here in the XK8 section that offer great tips on both ways to replace the brake pedal switch - a new switch & bracket assembly as well as just a new switch with the original bracket left in place. It would be worth your time to search for them and read them....

Randy,
Try this link to Gus' site. Scroll to the bottom and he shows how it could be left on the bracket.
