Help.i have a problem with my brakes.pedal travels 3 inches before brakes come on.when sitting with foot on brake I can feel the pedal pushing back up.also after applying brakes the pedal sticks and the brakes stay on.if I lift the pedal with my foot pedal relaeses the brakes.sometimes I can accelerate and brakes release.i have been told its the brake servo.could it be anything else before I go buy and fit.been told that these never fail? HELP urgent reply needed

As soon as I started reading your post I thought 'brake servo'. These are a lot more reliable than they used to be years ago but not to the point of never failing.
The pedal going down slowly is indicative of an internal or external leak. This could be either the Servo, vacuum pipe or Master Cylinder seals so it needs further diagnosis. As you are in the UK, a good used assembly from one of the specialist breaker would be the quickest and lowest cost option for repair.
