Brand new Proud Jag Owner has questions...
Hello Everyone! I just brought home a beautiful 2002 XK8 convertible in mint condition and barely 50k miles. It is a dream come true for me, as I waited for 3 husbands to buy me one but I managed to do it all by myself! A trophy in more than one way. : )
Got a bit of a quandary going on tho, as I can't locate any switches to adjust the headrest or the steering wheel (not even sure the steering wheel moves, so there may be no switch, of course). I have seen the threads talking about the troubles with the electrical with headrests and steering wheels (swell!) but no one has mentioned the location of the switches to get these things to move (or not, as the case may be!)
Can someone please take a moment to help a Jag newby like me?
Thanks

Welcome and congrats on the Jag. Check the sticky at the top for a copy of the owners Manuel.
On the left side of the steering column are two ****, one controls the instrument lights the other controls the steering wheel movement. If this switch is on auto the wheel will raise when you remove the key and return to the preset position when the key is inserted, the switch has an X Y axes which controls the up/ down and in/out movement of the steering wheel.
The headrest is controlled by one of the three switches on the side of the seat. The front switch controls the seat forward and backward as well as the thigh and rear adjustment of the seat bottom. The second switch control the seat back adjustment and the headrest, the third switch controls the lumber support.
Hope this helps.

The first check I would do would be to call a local jag dealer with your VIN number and ask them for your engine code / build date... if the engine code is after 8/31/2001 then you are safe and should have the metal tensioners... the engine code will be in the form of "010901xxxx" where the the first six numbers are two digits each for the year, month and date and the last 4 are the hour and minute... so the example above shows the engine was built on 9/1/2001 and therefore should have the metal tensioners...
