Broken vacuum line

Broken vacuum line
While checking the EGR system on my 01 XK8, I broke the small vacuum line that goes into the front driver side valve cover and I have 3 questions.
Where do I get a new one, guessing dealer?
Where does it go from the valve cover, I followed it till it got to the throttle body and lost it, guessing there is a port on the backside but cannot tell.
WHY would anybody in their right mind put thin rigid plastic hose in places that get really hot?

Worst than that Jaguar put plastic parts inside the engine mounted on the heads, the hottest place on the engine.
I broke mine also at the connector to the part load breather orifice. Was able to repair it invisibly by using a very small brass tube that fit perfectly inside the tube and fixed with a toothpick size drop of JB Weld. Just happened to have such a piece of tubing but it is available at ACE Hardware or most any hobby store. It is used in model airplanes.

As Testy alludes to, the part you're talking about is the Part-Load Breather Tube.
On one end, it connects to the left-bank valve cover, runs underneath the intake manifold, and has a t-connection into the induction manifold under the throttle body. THEN, and here's the answer to your question, it heads towards the firewall, under a heater hose or two towards the left side of the engine bay, and loops back towards the front to connect to your EVAP valve, which is mounted next to your coolant reservoir.
Just changed mine yesterday.

If you only broke, or split the line (and the norma connector is ok), you can carefully cut and separate the plastic line from the end connectors, and get a similar diameter fuel line from the auto parts store. For vacuum, and small diameter (3/8 or less) the flexible reinforced rubber fuel lines work just fine. Just make sure its a tight fit over the nipple end of the norma, you may not even need a worm clamp...my part load breather swap did not.
