If the self driving Teslas keep crashing, for sure you will get a good price for the parts (due to the excessive offer)
One question that I have is, I saw a video in you tube of the prototype X100 XKR-S with manual transmission. The ECU was detecting an "extrange part" in the transmission and was reporting an error. In your case what would happen with the ECU? Commit suicide?
well spotted, sorting out the ECU will be a major headache I'll face soon or later.
At the moment, The improved version of this Manual Trans ECU for XK8/R is out there and I've been in touch with a guy who can sell the blackbox...Long story short, I'll just need to fabricate my own ECU(raspberry pai) to send signal to Main ECU about RPM of motor, dummy signal to make ECU think there is an engine in it etc..
All that is coming in half a year time or around December

Tesla don't make a self-driving car - maybe that's why Tesla drivers keep crashing them, like the guy who switched cruise control on in his RV and went in the back to make a cup of coffee with predictable results...
The salvage price on Teslas has in fact sky-rocketed after people realised you can DIY repair them. Have a look on YouTube for Rich Rebuilds who has done just that and the fact that Tesla don't seem to like him doing it.
Thanks for all the followers! It really make a difference to my motivation!
Tesla parts has slowly started to decrease in value so soon after I get the car going and tested everything. I'll sure to improve my drive system and batteries.
UPDATE!
Hard to believe couple months went by so quickly!
Since the last update, I've managed to design the engine compartment's battery box.
The photo only shows the base of the box pre-fitted to the car.
I'm currently welding it into a box. (similar to the rear battery box)
Unfortunately, I'll be away for a couple weeks from now so next update will possibly be in a month time.
Hey Rui!
元気?
What's going on with your car?
I'm always inspired by your progress!
Thanks, I'm busy with work but doing well!
I hate not being able to work on Jag but it still is under progress.
I am currently waiting on few boxes of parts to arrive from Canada(all electric stuff)
Once it's here, I should be able to do a quick test on drivetrain!

Hope you had a nice holliday.
regards!
Thanks Im very much alive, on the other hand not doing so well on the project.
Been busy and lazy to get my *** moving with cold weather these days.
there's been few hiccups with my ordered parts from Canada and I'm little stranded without those EV parts.
There are a lot of things I can get it done without them so no excuse updating more often!
Rui,
Thank goodness you're alive and your EV conversion is still on. I had feared that you may have given up considering your efforts over 3 plus years. I'm rooting for you and look forward to updates as you continue this project. When finished, your car will be one of a kind.
Did you get to test the drive train in the car yet?
I've been following him. and yes, he is one of the reason why I've decided to keep the AT for now.
I am planning to run MT in future tho. I'll try to solve the TCU troubles as I go. ( I can use 4th gear and Reverse and park without TCU anyway )
Rui,
See Jaguar Specialties - may give you some ideas on the manual transmission swap. Good luck on your project!

I've made a partial test with the current drive train and the wheel can be spund.
For now, i will use AT trans to get by but once everthing checks out with the EV completed I will start converting it to manual!

I've already got in touch with them and I will be able to get hands on the Manual transmission ECU (black box) that was used for all the other manual conversions.
