Default Which Bush set is right (front upper wishbone)

Need to change the front wishbone bushes .

Bought one set of the black ones and a full set of the orange .
On the black set the RH (in photo) bush is thinner (9 mm)than the LH (10.4mm)but the orange ones are identical L and R. ( 9.1mm )
So which is right ? If its the black ones I will put the thick one in the lathe and turn it down use a black/orange combo. Tubes are identical lengths.I guess the thin bush goes on the inside the thickness of the outer one being irrelevant . Any thoughts?

Upper inner wishbone bushings should be identical. That is 2 x spacer tubes and 4 x bushings in total per side.
l can only think the thickness difference is a manufacturer defect.

Defect I dont think so as clearly the bushes were moulded identical and then one turned in a lathe to reduce its thickness ..I can see the tool marks .
I know the inner ones need to be the same and the original washers fitted.
Anybody got some on the shelf to measure?

Hi Pistnbroke,

I just purchased all bushings etc to rebuild the front suspension of my 2001 XK8 Convertible. If you could post the part numbers, I'll measure the new ones just received.

I dont have part numbers as these are aftermarket polypropylene bushes .
The ones in the photo would be the ones to measure ...

Thanks

Default Bushings-Wishbone

Hi,

I've attached a few photos. One has a sketch with the measurements. These are Jaguar parts & a photo of the bag with the part number is attached.

It's a bit odd that your Poly Bushes didn't come with Spacer washers. Mine came with washers that are the full diameter and about 2mm thick - see pic. They give lateral support to the wishbone. I agree that the outer bush thickness is irrelevant but it should still have a washer to support it.

Many thanks everyone ...the orange ones do in fact come with 2mm thick washer but both are identical, unlike the black where one is thinner ...I think the only answer is to pull it apart and see how it goes...

ha ha joke.. Not .... left the locking wheel nut key on the wheel nut and drove off so now waiting for a new key before I can do anything ..$$$$hit.

Like it says on the yank motors " **** Happens"
