Cabin filter?

Cabin filter?
Someone at work was saying how all/most cars built in the last several years have cabin filters that should be changed every so often. In the case of his car (Mazda) the filter is located behind the glove box. Is there a cabin filter in the XK8/XKR and, if so, where is it located and how is it changed?
Thanks,
Doug

On the '97-'02 series the cars are capable of having a filter added but effectively none of the North American cars came with one. I suspect that that situation continued through the '06 MY. If fitted, it is located under the windshield valence in front of the glove box area. You have to remove the wiper arms and the valence cover to see. Mine didn't have one, I looked.

In the UK it was an optional extra, but I don,t think the housing to accommodate the filter is very expensive if you want to fit one youself. The software is supposed to be told that the filter is fitted so as to increase the fan rpm so I,m informed, but also have been informed that not doing that really dosn,t make any difference

I found that the housing that holds the cabin filter will interfere with the wiper control arms in "Left Hand Drive cars". I heard you can get a special housing for Left Hand Drive cars but I don't know where. I ordered a housing from a Jag dealer it turned out to be a Right Hand Drive model. After removing all the wiper parts to get it in, the wiper got bound up on the housing. Now I just get a face full of pollen when I drive. Jack

Some time ago after seeing what the Air Filter stops the engine breathing in, thought I'd check to see if I was similarly protected with a Pollen Filter.
In the UK it's an optional extra and dealer told me they'd never fitted one:

RHD Part No: JLM 20782
LHD Part No: JLM 20783
Once they added the car had to go on the Jaguar WDS to reset the fan speed, I lost interest.

XK8 cabin filter
Thank you for replying. What I'm going to do is not tear apart the cowling & wiper mechanism and wait until an odor develops indicating there is a cabin air filter that's become "infected"!
I had a VW New Beetle (fun car) for about 11 years & finally realized where that nasty smell was coming from during the last year of ownership ... a cabin air filter! I let the dealer replace it as it too was a bit of hassel to get to.
