Default Can a 14 and 11 year old fit in the back seat

I am looking at a car 4 hours away, thinking about taking the family on a weekend vacation to see it and potentially buying the car and driving it back.

Down side is the 4 of us will have to drive back, wondering if it will be torture for the kids?

How far back do your front seat occupants normally have the seat? I would say for kids that age, it will be uncomfortable at best.

I have definitely had passengers over 5ft tall sit at the back of the car. Will greatly depend however on yours and your wife's height and how far forward you can comfortably push the front seat.

It wont be an enjoyable ride though.

It will be torture .........

......... the XK8/XKR is a car with four seats which is a very different thing from saying it's a four seater.

There will be wining but kids heal quickly. The upside is in the future they will probably let you drop them in front of the school rather than a block away.

If they put their legs on the center console, then yes it works.
Have done it myself

I've put two women (5'5 and 5'8) in the back of the car with a 5'10 dude in the passenger seat for a 30 minute ride. I think the rear seat passengers (our wives) were uncomfortable but my bro' was fine.

Can they comfortably hold the lotus position for the 4 hour trip? If yes, then maybe it would work.

If not, the teen (and pre-teen) will hate you more than they already pretend to now.

If you buy a convertible, put the top down. That will drown out some of the whining noise.

Don't give them any options.
You want and need that car, so get it.

My daughters are always complaining, even in the back of my Range Rover. For different reasons though, but You get the point.

Just get it, and you can get back home the four of you.

The kids want it too, well not specifically a Jag but a convertible. I used to have a 64 Buick skylark convertible, I had to sell it to make ends meet 3 years ago when money got tight and the kids have been whining for another rag top ever since. Of course we could fit the family and their 3 best friends in comfort in that car ... and a couple more could lay down in the trunk if needed.

My wife is not crazy about the jag but she will be comfortable in the front seat. Maybe the allure of another convertible will overcome the kids' discomfort.

I've been known to fit three girls in the backseats who are between 5 feet and 5'4" and a bro in the front passenger seat who is 5'6" during a 30 minute drive. However, they were all drunk, so I don't think they felt much pain.

This past thursday I had a 6 footer in the backseat, with the top down and a 5'10" dude in the passenger seat. The 6 footer was complaining about lost circulation to his legs whilst the other guy and I were laughing uncontrollably. This was a mere 10 minute trip.

Anything is possible, as long as you can allow a small modicum of space for their legs they may sit there. Obviously, a convertible will be more comfortable because of the headroom.

Unless they are fairly tall and cranky for their age, it can be done, but you will have to stop a few times to let everyone get out and walk around a bit.

On the positive side, it would be a memorable trip that would forever be a part of your family's history whether is was good or bad, you would all be talking about it for the rest of your lives.

If u drive the car as fast as u can they will be too busy screaming to worry about legroom, take some Noise Cancelling headphones with you - easy
