Can you fit people in the back seats?

Some of you guys could have easily driven or ridden in those ubiquitous clown cars at the circus in your salad days. You know, the little mini-cars that drive around the arena, slam on the brakes, and then 10 or 12 clowns climb out and stumble around. But you really have to love your colleagues to be willing to do that....

I'm 5'9" and fairly light (145ish) and I've tried to drive with rear passengers before and it just didn't work well. My best friend is five foot and not much more than 100lbs and she was in the passenger seat and her little sister who is maybe 4'6" and 80 something pounds. Both were thoroughly unhappy by the time we got to our destination 12 miles away.
I always have had a large car in addition to my toy car, so it normally isnt an issue. Currently it's a D3 Audi A8L (think transporter movies), and I can fit 3 passengers in great comfort and even more if no one cars about that. I think there's more rear legroom in that car than front legroom in the XKR.

My 8 and 4 years old often cruise with me in my conv Xk8 and they don’t complain too much about space, The 8 year old seat behind me as she need less legs room than my 4 year old daughter in her booster seat use the seat behind my wife. It is not that bad so far but we use it only on nice sunny day with the top down so they could stand anything I guess to ride with wind in their hair....

The first time I seriously looked into buying one of these one of the first things I did was to see what the back seat was like. I would consider myself average build (about 5'-7" and 160 pounds) and I somehow managed to squeeze myself back there but there is really almost no legroom, even with the front seat moved up. Might be just adequate for a small child.
I really didn't care much about there being a back seat (the car that was being replaced--a 1995 Corvette--had no back seat) and I actually liked the fact that I couldn't haul around others but being a "4-seater" the insurance was probably a bit less.
The back seat does come in handy for small luggage or other things

I don't know how anyone fits. I finally had the opportunity to check out an XK8 the other day. I moved the driver's seat all the way up and got in the back. I'm only 5'8" and couldn't return the seatback to the locking position (even with the seat moved forward). I had to crouch over because of the low roof and my face was about 3 inches from the driver seat headrest. No way in hell my 6' son is getting in there.
Unfortunately I have decided to not get the XK8. I need four real seats. I think this car would be a perfect 3rd car for weekend joy rides with the wife, but right now its just not practical for my needs.

I am 5'9". Within days of buying mine I found you could fit two adults, females under 5'9" and not overweight, just fine into the passenger seat and the backseat behind. I can also fit a 3 year-old behind the driver using kid adapter harness meant for temp use in taxis.
the convertible back seats are not for humans without the top down, and then watch your hair

My cars, the Camaro and the XK8, are really only used for my daughter and I.
The backseat in the XK8 can handle an infant in a car seat pretty easily and an average sized passenger. Once I had 3 other adults with me and, it wasn't entirely bad but certainly not suitable for a trip much beyond getting them to and from the bar.
With a child and a partner though; definitely doable.
