Im curious can you use the flip style key fob remote from the S-type & XJ series for the XK8/XKR series ?

 

You can but will need to get the new blank cut and programmed, and then transplant the guts from your working remote to the flip key housing.

 

No, you cannot. Your car has a longer 8 cut key blank. The transponder should be different. And the remote is definitely different.

 

In my opinion, the flip key is pretty ugly anyway One thing I was curious about is programming an Aston Martin DB7 fob...they are pretty cool and the car is practically the same.

 

Does that apply to the earlier S Type flipkey? I was told that it was possible by transplanting the guts and having a proper blank cut/programmed for it. (This from a couple other Jag parts guys)

Personally I didn't think it was worth it so passed on the idea.

 

you can program a flip key remote to non flip key cars. Ive done it (5seconds except the Stype, you have to have IDS) you dont have to swap guts. And I dont recall anyone having issue with the key either
