Canister Purge Valve
Good morning all.
I recently had the check engine light come on and when I checked the code it reported that the canister purge valve ( LJB1515AB ) is faulty. My difficulty is that I can't find one in stock anywhere. It has also been suggested that the fuel system additive Guaranteed to Pass will help this condition. I can't imagine I'm the only one with this problem. Any insight to this problem and source for this part would be greatly appreciated.

Be careful here. If I’m right, then that particular valve purges the air vapor above the fuel within the tank back to ambient pressure. It sends the vapor through the canisters to diffuse the smell.
*Hopefully someone can confirm this*
The risk is that if the valve has failed closed, then a long drive that burns a lot of fuel will cause a negative pressure that could implode the fuel tank.
Unscrewing the fuel filler cap and hearing a hiss sound would prove this condition....

I have a 2000 XK8 convertible. I initially called a local Jaguar dealer and, based on the VIN, was told part # LJB1515AB was the appropriate replacement.

You may have to settle for a used one.

I recently needed to replace the purge valve (for 1999-2002 through A30644) since it was leaking. The original part (LJB1515AA or LJB1515AB) is not available new, but there is a new part (LJG1515BB) requiring a small 'improvement' of a vent into the box that holds the brake booster. I jury rigged this with a fuel filter, hose and cable ties, though I eventually got the actual parts (DAC4062 for the air filter) and (UKC6683 for the fancy cable tie) that I haven't put on. The jury rigged solution looks better, IMHO than the Jag solution. The new evap valve is widely available. Such as

This may require an update to your ECM to make it work (engine computer=ECM, dealer, or someone with the proper software to do it). I happened to have replaced my ECM with a 2002 ECM for other reasons that fixed any potential problem with the programming.
It is also possible that wiring is the problem, so you might want to check that depending on what the code is.
Note: Rev Sam's video is helpful, but I found it to be very easy to turn the front wheels to the left stops, take the wheel well shroud out, and work on the evap valve without jacking or removing the tire, even with my relatively large torso. Videoing would be more difficult, but saves some time in practice if you're not doing that.

I had to replace mine on a 2000 xk8 convertible.
The valve is located near the rear axel between the two cannisters. You may want to do a visual inspection frist as it could be a leaking hose or shot o ring causing the leak. I replaced mine with a used CCV and it worked fine. I did purchase a new one to have on hand. The valve is made by Denso and the part number is LJC1525AC and should be readily available. I believe there is a "purge" valve up near a wheel well but my problem was with the "close" valve in the rear. I do not recall the exact code but the desciption was "slight evap emission leak"

In NC, there is a third option, ignore it. Your car is old enough to not need emissions testing. I don't suppose this is okay in CA.

There is not a single one left in the United States. Is there a way to hotwire it so it does not trip the check engine light?
The dealer said they are looking for a new supplier for the part. I asked if that was an old note, but in the supply system that note was put in in Oct 2020, so hopefully the part is not gone forever.

It's a complex system interaction so it is questionable whether it would be worth trying to figure out what will satisfy the ECM without performing the function. (As an aside, a mite bit illegal too...)

Safest/cheapest approach is to look for an old one.
Another is to acquire another ECM (about $100), and have that reprogrammed. That's a bit more expensive, obviously, with the ECM, the EVAP valve and the programming (unless you can do it yourself), but an option with no risk to your current ECM.

With no new stock available, I wonder how the states that require passing annual emissions tests will handle this dilemma. Here in North Carolina a recently-passed law exempts vehicles at least 20 years old, but right now the 2001-and-newer cars have to be tested and would fail if their canister purge valve is faulty....
