Can't latch convertible top.
Hi.. I just keep getting more and more problems with this car.
I tried to close my convertible top. It went all way up and feels like it's closed but shows message "convertible not latched". Roof isn't moving anywhere and windows stay down. I tried to open and close the roof using these instructions:http://www.jagrepair.com/HydRoofManualOperationxk8.htm
I just still can't get that message go away and close the rear windows. WTF is the problem now?

Check the fluid level at the pump in the right quarter panel in the trunk. Fluid must be between the two embossed lines on the tank.
Also, if you have a pre-2000 car, and your fluid is brownish/yellow, the lines need to be flushed and the fluid needs to be upgraded to the green fluid (Pentsion CHF-11S).

The other thing you might try is to first remove the little plug above the windshield to expose the hole for the latch. Use the hex wrench from the pump or an appropriate size hex socket to manually operate the latch open and closed a few times. The latch has a microswitch that signals it being closed (or open). If the switch is sticking the top will not complete the closing cycle and allow the rear windows to close. Maybe you'll be lucky and after a few tries, and waiting about 20 -30 seconds, the message might go out. I believe the latch operates manually pretty easily even if the pump valve is closed, as it normally would be. If you meet resistance operating the latch, then open the pump valve, but don't forget to close it afterwards. Good luck.
