Car show upstaged
Parked my xk8 with top down, close to a "Car Show". Lots of corvettes and muscle cars there, both new and old. As I walked around, I noticed just as many people walked over to my Jag and checked it out, as often as they did the show cars. Its great going to a car show knowing, you'r not going to see anythink more beautiful!

I've alternated from time to time between my '72 Buick Convertible and my '99 XK8 drop top. The Jag is a one of a kind at fairly large shows and does get more attention. Rich

I recently went to an Exotic car club show that a club I belong to hosted. Not sure who if anyone looked at my car but dammned if I could find a photo of it in all the shots that were taken....SOMEONE HAD TO HAVE SEEN IT!!!!! I usually get compliments all the time..Maybe outstaged by the Porsche 918, the Konigsberg, F40.....Any one of a hundred Lambos, Ferraris.....
Eh phoey..I EVEN SAW A PHOTO FO TH@ F TYPE THAT WAS THERE!@@@@@

Went to stop by a local farmers market today. There was a small group gathered around an older model Tesla. Until I pulled in & lowered the top down on my 2006 XK8. I spent 5 minutes in the market, then 45 minutes talking to a couple of dozen admirers of the car. Some asked if I could take a picture of them sitting in the car. Nice!

Without any question, my 2002 XKR vert gets more compliments than any car I have ever owned. Period! And that includes some very nice automobiles such as my current 2010 XKR coupe, my beautiful '78 280Z (owned since new) and my very exotic looking 1972 De Tomaso Pantera. And I must say, I like its appearance, its feline and sensual curves as much or more than any of them. These are extraordinarily designed cars that are and will be classic in any era. It's no wonder people stare.

It just goes to show you how in many cases beauty does slay the beasts. The last time I left my car at a show, so I could wander around looking at other folk's efforts on their cars, I had 3 phone numbers left on the driver's seat. Believe me......It isn't because of my animal attraction, unless you have a poster of David Crosby hanging up in your room. In my opinion, Jaguars have always been designed more as auto-erotica, than just cars. This is a good thing for those of us, who look like me......Be cool....Mike

I stopped by Supercar Sunday, this morning, held every Sunday at a local mall in the San Fernando Valley. This is our version of Cars and Coffee, and there is always a good turnout. With 80F weather, what's to prevent a good turnout? I took my 2010 XKR coupe, today, as in the past I have taken my 2002 XKR Vert. and my Pantera. I was parked a couple of cars away from a beautiful Carnival Red XJR ( i would guess a 2002). A new F-type R coupe pulled in and I met the owner, and late in the morning, near the end of the gathering, a lovely BRG 2002 XKR convertible pulled in a couple of rows away. I immediately was drawn to its beauty even though when i got closer and met the owner, it wasn't in as good a shape as it looked from a distance (nothing a good detailing and replacement of the driver's seat back wouldn't cure). But it was still gorgeous and stood out from the Lambos, Porsches, Ferraris and the like. Still beautiful after all these years.

I drive my cars as long as the streets aren't wet, and I see quite a few others that do the same. If Anyone in the Chicago area(not the Northern suburbs) wants to start something like this, let me know. I would be willing to bundle up, and drink coffee with like minded souls for a couple of hours on a Saturday morning, if we could get a group together.
I don't think anyone wants me to organize such an event. The last event that my wife organized was a surprise 30th birthday party, that had over 30 choppers parked in front of our house, and people screwing in the back yard......Glad the police could be bought off with birthday cake and a couple brownies......Be cool......Mike
