Default Battery ground strap

Hello,
I have a new bell housing to body ground strap. To install it do I need to disconnect the battery itself first?

On the new strap it says “WARNING One time use only. New lead must be fitted if disconnected from body”.
So, I guess you aren’t supposed to disconnect your old strap to clean up the contacts?

Default Car still won't start. Here are the codes. Ideas?

I have codes from different modules.
Security Locking Module-

U1041SCP vehicle speed signal invalid or missing message

Body Processor Module-
B2334 Column drive tilt out of range high
U2012 Communication bus error non SCP
B1595 Ignition switch-illegal input code
B1897 Horn switch-circuit failure
B1438 Wiper mode select switch-circuit failure
B1352 Key in-circuit failure
B1446 Wiper pack sense-circuit failure

Driver Door Module-
B1402 Local door window glass circuit failure
B2182 Remote door window glass
B1559 Door key barrel-circuit failure

Driver Seat Module-
B1953
U1135

Passenger Seat Module-
U1135

Pass. Door Module-
B2323 Local mirror drive left/right out of range low
B2327 " " "
U1041 SCP vehicle speed signal invalid or missing message

Car has a new battery. Power works. It just won't turn over or anything.
It also says "Cruise Not Available" in the message display when I try to start it.

Please help me, you expert dudes out there in the world!

Jaguar advice is to disconnect the battery before doing ANY work on the electrical system. There are modules and switches where this is definitely the best practice but for a bellhousing ground strap replacement, it is really overkill. I wouldn't disconnect the battery for this but you must make your own choice.

The one time use is likely to be because the strap is bent to shape when fitting. As it ages, bending it again for disconnection and contact cleaning could cause some of the strands to break. Again this is being extremely cautious and not something many DIY'ers would do.

What battery voltage do you actually have. Even new batteries are sometimes faulty or low on charge.

B1352 Key in-circuit failure
then there is a second illegal input code warning...
B1595...

Is the key the original key?
Is this car new to you?

And when you say "won't turn over",,, does that mean that the starter wont engage at all,,, that you can't get the engine to turn - ?

Key is original.
I purchased the car in May 2021.
It has worked fine since this problem.
When I replaced the old battery (build date 7/2016) it still wouldn't start.
Then, I tried it the next day and it started fine.
Drove perfectly for several days. Then it wouldn't start and hasn't since then.

Today I disconnected the negative cable and the positive cable.
Touched them together for about 15 minutes.
Removed both cables and made certain that the connections were clean.
Re-installed the cables and tightened the connections around the battery.
Replaced the bell housing to body ground strap with a brand new strap from Jaguar.
Still no start.
A friend who has owned a body shop since 1980 said that it could need the body processor module reprogrammed. He said he could do that.

I replaced the strap and still nothing.
The car won't start.
Turn the key. All of the normal lights light up and then turn off, like normal.
Turn the key to start and nothing. No clicks, no cranking no nothing.
And always this in the display: Cruise not available.

You seem to have quite a few codes related to the SCP bus - does your friend have the Jaguar WDS diagnostic software? That has various functions to test that the SCP bus is working ok. I would be looking for shorts on that bus as a starting point - you can also do this with an oscilloscope.

Jaguar's training manual on the SCP/CAN buses:-

I should have looked for your other posts before responding to this one yesterday.

Presumably the ground strap replacement was an attempt to resolve this issue?
https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/x...-ideas-251132/

If so, I'll merge the threads together to keep everything about the same issue in the same place.

When you get the no start condition,,, will the starter engage AT ALL? Or does it give you nothing on key turn?

I could give a shot of the total page but this is just to explain the reason why im asking about the behavior of the starter... there is a whole series of security checks that involve the key, exciter ring, the key transponder module, the body processor and then the ecm at key turn... if the starter, fuel pump (and ignition i think) do not all kick on at key turn, its a security system-ish thing - having to do with the chain of events you can kinda make out in the images above. If the starter IS turning and its bot starting i could be something like a fuel pump issue...
