Well, it all depends how much you value your cars paint.....
Mechanical car wash installations will no doubt deteriorate your paint appearance over time. This is due to particles like sand and other stuff that build up in the brushes these machines use to clean your car. They will leave scratches on your paint which will be very hard to eliminate one they have formed. I stopped using these machines 10 years ago and in my experience it is better to wash your car by hand using lots of clean water once a month instead of going thru the car wash 4 times a year. It will seriously damage your paint in the long run and thus negatively affect the appearance of your paint.
Having said all that: it depends on how important you think you car and the way it looks is to you. I myself am meticulously with my cars paint because I want my cat to look best whenever and wherever I take it.
In the end it remains a personal thing, but know that the car wash is not the best thing for your cars paint.
