Which car would you like next?

I have no interest in any of the new Jags. Since Tata they have lost their unique "Jag-ness". They look like Audi's, BMWs, etc. What I like most about my 2002 XKR is that it looks like a Jaguar.

None - my XKR is a 'keeper' - I plan to keep it until the world petrol supply dries up (a week next Tuesday if the cost is anything to go by) I have a 2003 4.2 so a newer one would only be storing up the same issues.
I toyed with the idea of the XKR being a stepping stone to a Vantage - but now I have the Jag I don't want to part with it, and for use as a daily driver I think the Aston would be too fragile.
To my mind the Jag and the Aston are the only 'beautiful' cars left on the road - others (Merc/BMW/Audi) make very 'handsome and efficient vehicles' but they have no presence, and all disappear in the car park amongst the rest of the slightly angular tin cans. The XK8/R design has style that takes it out of the ordinary.
Also - put it this way - if you go into a senior meeting, who is the most important one there? The guys in the grey/black suits, or the guy in casual clothes with his feet on the conference table?

I agree with the previous comments. I have managed to get the year/version I wanted and am very happy.
I have no interest in the new version, the interior is horrid to my eyes!
Like others have said cover up the badges and it could be anything, not so the X100.
As far as I am aware the X150 has no temperature/oil gauges at all!!

Since an E-Type is not in my budget range, I would either keep the blue cat and add an XJ to the stable or possibly trade up to a '04-'06 4.2 coupe.
The striking looks of the XK8/R, combined with the driving pleasure I feel each time I get in the cockpit, are really hard to match. The rare cars that fall into that sweet spot are few and most are beyond my reach financially.
Audis and BMWs are great driving cars, but lack passion. A Ferrari or Aston would be a hoot, but require piles of cash I do not have. And Alfas are not as practical as a daily driver (trust me, I know).

Jag's a keeper
I have always managed to keep a Jag for a driver and it seems that when I do part with one, it is not long before I get a replacement. I have a DB7 and love it, but it is really a very different car from the XK8 or the XJS no matter what anyone tells you. The XK8 coupe is not very common where I live as most cars where convertibles, so I really like the uniqueness of it while having a car that is very easy to get parts for and work on. And it rides so well and is a lot of fun to drive.

A DB9 is the only other car that I can think of that has a comparable presence to the X100.
I would consider it next, but honestly, with the twin screw kit being available I can't see the Aston really offering much beyond what the XKR can for a lot less money.

However, as you say, objectively it is no better than the XKR. I guess I am a badge snob
Twice as much, but twice as good?

What is next for me is not to replace my XK8. As others have said, I have the color, the year that I want and so forth and don't drive it very much and plan to just hang on to it.
What would be next would be the exact opposite of the XK series. I don't think that there is another car available that has the styling, class, refinement and beauty of the first series XK for anywhere near the amount of money, or, maybe even for any amount of money.
I grew up as a Mopar guy, and had a 1968 Barracuda and then a 1973 340 Duster. My next car will be a late 60's, early 70's Mopar muscle car. Something like a Barracuda, Duster or Dodge Charger. Class, refinement, beauty? Not so much. Just raw power. Yep, I will go for the opposite of the Jag.
346 cube 10.1 comp stock rods TRW pistons stock crank 308 heads unported but with 2.02 intake valves .508 comp hyd flat tappet torker II intake 750hp Holley MSD ign 904 with T/A valve body Dynamic 9 1/2 3000 stall 8 3/4 with spool and 4.56 gears car weighs 3150 with me in it. best of 11.99 at 112mph and yes 002 and 003 SS springs. Thanks
