CATS error signal with Ohlins shock absorbers!! need your help!!
Hi Forums,
the car with the new Ohlins suspension is awesome!
There is only 1 problem:
We can not clear the error "SUSPENSION FAULT" with yellow light on on dashboard.
we know that in versions 4.0 XKR simply connect a resistance of 3.3 ohm 11 W in connectors.
We tested it with this resistance, but after a few minutes returned to the error signal.
We don’t know what we must do in 4.2 for to permanently delete the error.
Can you help me?

Hi Luca, you will possibly need to re-programme the VID BLOCK on the 4.2 using Jaguar diagnostics. Using Jaguar’s WDS system, which was the system for set up and diagnostic testing on the 4.2 try the following.
- Connect WDS to DLC16 connector
- Enter Chassis number as requested
- When asked if the specification detailed matches your your, you will need to click No. this will then allow you to manually add all of the data for your car. At this point do not click CATs suspension system.
- Confirm Vehicle
- Clear codes
- Test to see if message is still displayed.
Hopefully this will work mate.

In the rear tire well, at the fat back there is mounted a smallish control box for CATS. It is held to the rear panel with 2 10mm nuts and has a 35 pin connector.
Unplug it. Problem solved.
The fault will display when the controller says to display it. No control, no fault. There are no other connections to other systems in the car.
There have been a few members who put non CATS shocks on their cars and have run like this for years.
Post #4 in this thread: https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/x...-switch-73487/ has a description of the system from JTIS. It would probably be worth your while to install it and have access to the technical documents when doing modifications like these adjustable shocks.

Don't have a picture, but it's a plastic box that is perhaps 4x6x1 inch thick. The connector is long and narrow, with two rows of pins. The connector hooks into one side and then latches on the other so it will probably be easier to unbold the box so you can see it better.
Remove the cover from the spare tire well and it is bolted to the rear bulkhead at the right hand side near the battery.

I have a question: you have recommended me to disconnect this unit (LJA1970AC).
Wonder if perhaps it was better to turn off only the connector error output to the instrumentation (should be the PIN 1).
This because in this 35 pins there are also the accelerometer input, traction over-ride from ABS, and more others.

The system is completely self contained. Look at the wiring diagram and you will see that there are only 3 pins that connect to the outside.
Two input, vehicle speed and the brake switch, and then the output to the instrument cluster for errors.
You can reconnect it and cut that one pin if you want, but it won't make any difference.
