CD changer: E-01 error code
Suddenly from no where, after finishing playing the 5th CD (which happened to be the brilliant Doors compilation album - didn't have a 6th loaded), this E-01 error came up on the display panel. Tried to remove the changer from its holder but it makes a noise for a couple of seconds as per normal but then the CD holder doesn't pop out!
Looking up the error code in the manual its simly states 'See your Jaguar dealer'. Surely there's an alternative to paying £145 for an hour of their time?
All suggestions welcome...

One of the common errors on the Jag CD changers. Search forum for "CD changer E-01 error code" (use Google, it's faster and more accurate).
Plenty of threads on the board for DIY fixes. Most are simple & quick, but be aware that they will come back. These units are not that reliable and depending on your MY, getting old.

Tried the flat screwdriver under the changer method I've read on here too, but nawt. I really don't want to try and get the whole CD unit out if I can help it, nor spend any more money - just paid £135 for a new battery last week!

Jaguar CD players appear to have a very low second hand value in the UK.
There's several listed on eBay starting at £50 which could be a more cost effective solution than a repair.

It’s a similar set up to the one I had with my Range Rover P38
Dreadful thing finally gave up on it but I managed to get an MP3 adaptor to fit into the head unit.. Sadly don’t seem to be able to do the same with my XK8
Any how, to the answer.
I use to take the cover off the CD changer and very gently push the curved arm which moved the disk in and out of the changer.
Sadly once it starts doing this it really won’t stop. I tried putting some very fine oil on the mechanism but that only worked for a few weeks and it would stick again.
So you will be able to get your CD of the doors back out
Good luck

CD Error code E-01 RESOLVED (for now!)
I was within 30 seconds of probably doing something to the CD player that I'd have regretted, but then.... from absolutely nowhere.... out she popped!!
The remedy was a knife (as in knife & fork), inserted between the cartridge and the white base, increasingly violent wiggles of said knife up & down, repeated pushing of the eject button and about 15 mins of patience!
I have no idea though whether the issue was the Doors album, CD5, or the machine generally. I guess there's only one way to find out...

CD E-01 message
Taking a straight slot screw driver, or letter opener, and applying slight upward pressure on the bottom of the cd magazine while pushing the eject button should eject the magazine. That should clear the code, and you will see a message that says "magazine empty" or words to that effect. Exercise each of the 6 magazine slots by checking that each disk is in its place, re-insert the magazine, and you should be back in business.

Thanks for the info. My battery had died and a CD was in the player. I tried the wiggle and eject but nothing happened other than some clicking in the changer. I noticed that the bottom CD was in the player. I disconnected the battery waited a few minutes, reconnected and turned the head unit to radio and back to CD. I heard the CD retract into the cartridge and was able to eject it. All is now good, no lost CD no damage to the player, everything works, yea!!!!!

I got the dreaded CD E-01 error code a couple of days ago. (I seem to remember having gotten it several years ago and paid my local jaguar repair shop.) The blue eject button was inoperative, so I decided to try the fix recommended on this forum. I used my Swiss army knife, inserted about 2 inches, and swept from right to left underneath the magazine. I heard a click behind the blue button, as though a CD was retracting. I pressed the blue button and the magazine ejected. I then put the key in the ignition and got the NO MAGAZINE message. I removed all the CDs from the magazine (there were only three and they were all ripped CDs), wiped them clean and inserted them, adding three more so the magazine was full. I reinserted the magazine, fired up the CD player and it came up with CD 1 TRACK 1. I didn't try any of the other CDs but I'm assuming all is well. BTW, I have a blog if anyone is interested: https://ourjaguarxk8.blogspot.com/
