CD Player Skips / Shock Mounted?

Given the age of these cars now, the optical components inside the CD players in them are probably beginning to need recalibration. You would have to remove the unit and take it to an audio shop capable of performing the recalibration process. My single-disc Yamaha home system CD player was built in 1990 and continues to be a workhorse for me to this day. When it began to intermittently skip or freeze when playing certain CDs a couple of years ago, I had it recalibrated by a trusted local high-end audio shop. I paid around $60 for their bench time (which amounted to less than 30 minutes). Problem solved....

I always kinda thought that it skips over bumps because it is mounted over the rear axle. Not exactly the smoothest ride back there. And, had I designed the car, that's the last place I would have put it, too.
