Cell Phone Snap Crackle and Pop
When making phone calls on our cells inside the car, there is a horrible crackling and buzzing sound when making the call. It can be heard by the party we are calling and on our end. Its annoying enough sometimes to just hang up and turn the car off and take the key out before continuing with conversation. I have att she has Verizon, shes on a Galaxy (something or other) and Im on a 5S. (same issues with iPhone 4 and 5)
It will do it as soon as the key is in the ignition at position #1 and #2 and running.
Obviously it seems to be electrical interference of some kind. I have tried turning off the radio, nav, and climate control to no avail. Anyone else have this problem? Or any suggestions where the interference may come from.

I've had this same problem. My wife was driving, the top was down, answered my phone and couldn't hear very well so I leaned forward and the phone went haywire. Leaned back and it was fine. I just figured it was the coils from the engine. Never tried. It with the engine not running but the key on.

Is this an isolated incident or a 'serial' event?
(Sorry - I've been back to read the thread a few times and finally just couldn't resist it)
It's happening in position #1 without the engine running?
Crackling is usually ignition coil related and whining is inadequate alternator suppression but neither of these should come into play on auxiliary position #1.
As for the interference when the engine is running, does moving the phone further back in the vehicle have any effect?
