Unhappy Changed thermostat, now car will not start?

I decided to do some preventative maintenance on my 04 XKR and flushed the coolant, changed the thermostat and temp sensor. After putting the new thermostat in, the car would crank but not start. I am getting good fuel pressure at the rail and also did the battery connect/disconnect trick just in case, I also dropped a few ounces of gas into the throttle body. Still no joy, the car cranks strongly but does not fire. No lights or codes. Any ideas?
Thanks
Pete

This is a long shot, but it may be a case of bore wash. There has not been any mention in the newer models that I can recall, but the extra fuel you introduced indicates that it may be a problem now if not before.

Try several bursts of the starter with the gas pedal to the floor to shut off the fuel, then try starting with little or no throttle. Removing the plugs and adding oil to the cylinders is a last resort. Do a search for bore wash.

But first check that the temp sensor and other connections have not been disturbed.

I also would also have guessed that some electrical sensor that might have been unplugged was not re-connected. This happened to me on another car where I had disconnected the intake air temperature sensor or something similar and the car would not start.

I noted you changed the temp sensor. Try putting the old one back in and see if it will start. If you have gone over the steps of your work and haven't found an error then I would suspect the sensor is creating a problem.

Default Still trying!

Some very good suggestions. I did inspect the harness area around the temp sensor but didn't check continuity. Tomorrow I will try putting the old sensor back in (though I can't see how a temp sensor could ground the ignition but stranger things have happened). I'll keep all of you up dated. Ironically, the temp sensor is the simplist sensor on the engine to change and the thermostat was a snap also, I should have known the kitty wasn't going to let me get away that easy!

Thanks for all the help!

Default It's alive!!

I put the old one back in, it started up! It isn't logical, maybe it was flooded and needed some to evaporate but I am good to go. Thanks

The temperature sensor was telling the ECU I am overheated shut me off.

The new one is bad. Check the resistance and compare to the old one. Odds are it's either shorted or open circuit.
