Changing Wheel Bearing

RE: Changing Wheel Bearing
I don't mean to hijack your thread, but I need to change at least three of my wheel bearings in my '95 XJ6.....recently I was doing 130mph on our beloved Florida turnpike, and they were whining so loud.....
Is this something I can do by myself, or is it a big job as I was thinking, lifting the whole car and all..... let me know. I am tech - savvy and have all the basic tools I may need here and there. Thanks,
G.

RE: Changing Wheel Bearing
Iwould suggest you first invest in a JTIS CD. Its an digital service manual. You can get them online, ebay, etc., for $10-$20 bucks. The procedures for everything we discussed today are well described.
You should determine whether or not you are capable of perform these types of service repairs based on the step by step procedures; not on a quick capsule summary of someone's recollection about how they did the job.
The wheel bearings are different front and rear. The fronts are pressed in place and you'll need a hydraulic press to R&R. That being said,if you are taking it to a shop, take it to one that has the ABS hub nut, and save yourself the expense of buying one. I think once you get the front uprights {hubs} off, the job is within the capabilities of most good hobbyists.
