Check engine issue and misfire codes on '01 XK8

Twice in the last week, I have started the car and found it running
rough. Then the check engine light came on. Then the engine would smooth out and
run fine. Both times the car had been driven, then parked, then started again.
The second time, I tried to give it some gas and that stalled it out. It then
took several tries to get it started again I took it to my mechanic,
who checked the codes: 300, 301,302,303,304,305 and 306. I understand
that 300 is multiple misfires and the others are for individual cylinders.
The mechanic said to keep an eye on it and if it continues
he'll call Jaguar to see if there is any history of this being dealt with
by a previous owner. (I just got the car a few weeks ago).
Does anyone have a clue as to what is causing this?

have hime flush the injectors with onboard cleaner, cleaned throttle body and part load breather. Also do you have oil coming from the back corners of the cam covers? If so the spark plug wells may be full of oil from cam seals leaking. if so do all the above, replaced seal and if you have over 75k go ahead and put it new plug too.

you shut off fuel pump and run the engine on professional injector cleaner....especially since you have an 01 with only 34k. you may have gotten varnish build up in the injectors from not driving the car much. Gas does get old you know, and leads to turning into varnish gummy deposits in the fuel system, so alittle maintenance for the fuel system would be helpful..I like BG cleaners the best, find a mechanic or shop that can do this for you...and for Gods sake drive your car now ok

Brutal,
Thanks. I'll get that done. By the way, I've put 1K miles on the car since I got it January 14th.
I believe cars need to be driven. But I sure do like buying them from people who don't. This XK8
looks and even smells new. Thanks again for the advice on the BG.

lol no problem... I bought my wife a 98 XJ8 2 years ago with 31k on it that Ive worked on and maintained since new. It even still smelled new.. until some teenager on her cell plowed into my wife at 70...never hit her brakes....knocked her into the car in front of her and totalled all 3 cars. but at least everyone walked away... Hit so hard the rear mufflers where driven through the tires and wheels locking them up..But you could open all the doors, and the cabin section wasnt even damaged.....Jags are great cars

Brutal,
No oil from cam covers. Car only has 34K miles. Regarding "flushing injectors with onboard cleaner, cleaned throttle body and part load breather." What's onboard cleaner?

while gas tank additives do help, nothing like running the engine on cleaner, and also they make an induction cleaner that goes through a fine mist wand you slip in up the intake hat over the throttle body. Then with the engine running it sprays at 90psi and cleanes the intake manifold and ports of oil and dirt residue. and that works great too leaving it like new
