Check engine light (orange) - "engine stall" message - battery?
Today the check engine light came on. Car really seemed fine, I checked the gas cap, coolant and oil level and everything seems ok. Drove it around a bit and it seems fine.
I disconnected the battery and touched together the leads to reset the code. About 30 min later reconnected everything, started the car up, and the engine light is still on. Then the car stalls giving me an "engine stall" message. - is this because I disconnected the leads, or was it maybe the battery in the first place?
I checked the voltage on the battery, it's about 13v (per my analog voltmeter).
Would a dying battery cause an orange engine light? Can I tell if the battery is dying via my voltmeter?
Currently trying to hunt down a scanner, but having no luck locally, not even wal mart - might have to order one so that'll be at least a few days.
Any ideas/sounds familiar? Thanks!

I can't say if your battery is dying or not but I will say that the Jag wants a good battery. I have seen a variety of error messages because the battery voltage had dropped just a little. Some of the others here will be able to give you more details but I wouldn't be surprised if it was the battery.

I strongly recommend getting the codes read before you change anything.
Any store that sells batteries can do a load test on your battery which can help you decide whether that is a factor. You can use a replacement battery from an auto parts sore...just make sure it has a vent connection and the vent is properly installed to vent flammable hydrogen gas from the trunk in the event of a voltage regulator failure.
