Black Antennae Pix
Hey All;
Well, here's the promised picture. Personally, I like it better since my XK8 is a darker color. I just didn't like that long Silver whip up there.
Here is where it came from (eBay):

Hi Gus, I have been under my 300zx Twinturbo changing springs, suspension components, and adding some bling. All summer the Jag has been running flawlessly (in spite of using machine oil, WD-40, and other dust attractors on my antenna) so I kind of drifted off to Nissanland.

Gordo is so used to having a project to do on the jag...when there wasn't anything left to fix, I suppose he just moved over in the garage (to the Z) and kept working. Glad to hear the car is running well Gordo.
Robert, I'm still considering if the black is a plus or a minus. I'm gonna have to say its a wash for me also. For your car, however, I do think it is a nice change, and I think it has to do with your xK8 having chrome rims. Now the full bling is directed to your wheels, not shared with the chrome antenna.

Hi Matt. Yes I am pleasantly surprised the Jag has been so dependable over the summer months. Once in a while I get an error msg, but it ends up being an anomaly. I guess once you address the known predisposed failure points and/or maintain periodic inspection of those systems likely to fail, the rest of the car is pretty dependable. BUT I am ever vigilant knowing these cars are Jaguars... Cats that like to sneak up on their prey. gordo

Well I guess you made me flinch Wazari! I have been using WD-40 for years and it works just fine. As for the silicone I guess it works but will buildup the same way. WD stands for water displacement and the 40 stands for the 40 attempt to make it right. If used correctly, spray and clean it will do what you want. I would prefer that the water be displaced. The choice is yours, but do not discount the qualities of WD-40.

Yes you are correct the market has many products that will do the job but the key to the success is cleaning it and removing the excess residue so that it does not collect additional junk. I use WD40 because it is a great cleaner and it does what it was developed to do and that is to displace water. The choice is yours but it works for me.

My mast would not fully retract when I first got the cat I used alcohol to wipe down the mast and used a dry lubricant spray that I got at "Walmart" and available at some RV Parts Dealers, it is not sticky for dirt to attach. Also use this on the gears on the slides on my RV and works great vs other spray lubricants I tried.
