Default Cleaning convertible head liner

I have a 2000 xk8 convertible. I have vacuumed the entire head liner but still have spots of dirt and rust. What is the best way to remove the rust and dark dirt spots?

Thank you

I've had good results with a high foam type interior shampoo such as this.
Don't know if it's available in your area, but you can probably find something similar.
Good luck with your project.

If it is real dirt and stains, Jag recommends alcohol. I've had some luck with baby wipes.

If they are "orange-colored" stains, the foam on your headliner is decomposing. You can make it look better with a vacuum, but it will keep coming back until you replace the headliner.

The rubbing alcohol takes the stain with it when it quickly evaporates. I found that brake cleaner is easier to put on and evaporates even quicker.

+ 1 on the brake cleaner. I'd have never ever thought of using this, but test point and others on this forum advocate it time and time again. They have proven trustworthy so - I tried it and was very nicely surprised. It works, it does not cause any damage. (gosh I'd always been taught that brake cleaner was so aggressive and caustic that I would have bet it woudl disolve the fabric or something - nothing bad happens!)

vacuum first to get as much of the dust as you can. Replacing on the convertible is actually hard as a DIY project, but can be done.
