Code P1646 Which Side Is The Bad Sensor
I own a Jaguar XK8 2001 with the 4.0 engine (USA LHD Drive)
Can someone please clarify which side the bad upstream sensor is before I go through hell removing the wrong upstream sensor, had a look in a bunch of forums and I'm getting confused between the terms for the RHD and LHD and whether locations/clarifications are different.
Thanks

Although I have had good service from the Bosch Sensor, I would go with Denso as many others on this forum recommend as a replacement.

Its the right hand side one. Did this recently myself. Pig of a job. See here my last couple posts on this thread, go through the AC drain and you can get a breaker bar on the sensor. You can ignore all my stuff about the misleading code, that is peculiar to the 2002 for some reason. Definitely get Denso. I've heard enough mixed things about the Bosch ones and its such an almighty ballache to change that you absolutely do not want to chance having to do this twice.

Personally I recommend doing both sensors at the same time, so they are both the same age/level of wear and if one went out, the other is surely not far behind it, and you'll have to drop the exhaust from both sides to get at it anyway. They aren't cheap though. As much as a nightmare as they are to unscrew, feeding the connector wire and connecting it to the harness was almost as bad. There is no clearance at all so you better have nimble fingers. I used the old sensor to fish a string through the harness at the back of the engine that I then used to pull the new sensor wiring through with so think about that when you are pulling the old sensor out.
I also recommend getting a very deep 22mm socket to remove the old sensor cos the open-sided sensor tool I used had too much play due to the open side and I almost rounded the damn thing off removing it.
I could swear my fuel economy improved a little after I did the sensors too. Anyway, hope my sunny disposition encourages you here lol.

To update I replaced it! And I felt that rounding part. Did that myself and had to improvise. It was just stuck. And correct, it was the passenger USA upstream
Anyways, replaced it with a 200$ denso part, still has the code showing. Not sure at this point if it's the car, the relay or wiring. Checked the wiring and don't see any rips, tears and or burns. And neither does the connection have an corrosion. Gonna try relay replacement first. Then check with a live obd if what it's reading consistent before ordering a 3rd replacement. At this point it can't be the sensor. And I'm losing not a to fix this check engine light in regard to 02🥲
