Hmm, not sure but if it were me, first I would disconnect the battery for about 15 minutes then I'd use my OBDII and clear any/all faults then go drive and see if it will basically do a cold boot and start working. I have had to do a similar thing with the wifes Dodge magnum to reset the tranny. To set all the shift points in the dodge after the above process,I go to a clear road and floor ittill the car makes it's final shift to drive. After that all was fixed.

Do you have any idea what 'burnt out' the original module? These things fail mainly due to external input that corrupts the memory of the device. Have you had any electrical issues with the car? I agree that the best first effort is to reboot (disconnect the battery) the whole system.

I replaced a TCM, with the proper extension (/XXX), without any problems. Took a couple days to 'relearn' shifting otherwise works perfectly.
