I was thinking along those lines.

What if you were to remove the paper from an unused tea bag and stick it inside the cover, across the holes, would that let enough air flow?

So ideally the holes in the cover allow air into the headlamp, and others [at the rear?] allow the air out?

What you want to do is to cut a big hole in the trap and stick on a Gore-Tex patch.

Thanks - though Gore-Tex or any breathable waterproof fabrics here are as common as Branston pickle in your local Geant Casino...

Oh the bitterness! I do miss Branston. How cruel.
If you get onto the Goretex website + find your nearest branch they do Free Samples !!
So you don't need to buy the GoreTex All Purpose Astronaut and Polar Explorer suit and cut holes in it.

Waterproof and Breathable GORE-TEX® Outerwear - GORE-TEX® Products

Nearest store seems to be 3000 miles away in the neighboring country to the North. If you have a All Purpose Astronaut Suit with the Polar Explorer upgrade option, perhaps you could cut a piece of and send it over?

Its possible that the likelyhood of your doing this is similar to my finding a local store.

Are you missing Marmite aswell?

You must be English to know about Branston and Marmite withdrawal.
Neither can travel on aircraft, of course, all condiments being regarded with deep suspicion since the dreadful Gherkin Bomb incident so I was obliged to smuggle them through the Chunnel packed in the boot of the XKR when I brought it over.
Anyway, assuming that Mexico has a postal service, unlike Nicaragua where I've got a hideout, PM me your address and I'll post you a bit next time we have some in stock. It won't be Scott of the Antarctic variety since if I told you what we use if for you'd have to die but it will serve.

I was surprised to find both Branston and Marmite in a new Ethnic section of Publix here in SC this week.
It's pretty useless for condensation but I was happy.

I don't know, a thin film of Marmite could work like the UK mil 'Cream AntiMist' we used to smear on the inside of our goggles. Tastes better too.
I deeply resent these products being branded as Ethnic. Along with Gentleman's Relish and Worcestershire Sauce they were probably on the go long before the US went all independent.
I don't imagine young Washington would have got where he did without the odd Marmite, Branston, Cheddar and watercress sarny.

No, we're allowed to digress a bit before getting smacked. One of the many good things about this Forum.

English as English can be.

The Mexican postal service is apparently working fine. In ten years I have never received a single thing. Now you could mail to a friends hotel, La Rana Cansada, Calle 5, entre 5a y 10a, Playa Del Carmen, 77710, Mexico.

I also really miss samosas and anything Indian that could come from a kitchen.

I'll do that when we next get some.
You might find some on packaging
GORE® Protective Vents Frequently Asked Questions
It's different from Gore-Tex and specifically designed for this sort of thing.
You'll find agricultural/pharmaceutical (not the Mexican pharmaceuticals) and other vapour releasing materials will have a small usually round moulding at the top of the packaging with a white film in it.
That's what you want - if you find something let me know. It would actually suit your purpose better than the stuff we use.

I look forward to my parcel, and I will send you something suitable back (not Mexican pharmaceuticals which are really Colombian ones).

Have a great weekend.

How will you cope with the FedEx paperwork for that gorgeous Bimbette you've promised?
Seriously it may be a month or two before I can post you the 'stuff' but I'll let you know when it leaves Blighty.

Holes drilled. Lights are now dry and condensation free!

Goretex enroute in the next few months. Rainy season isn't until September so it's looking good!

I had quite an amount of condensation in my HID headlights which was cured by leaving the covers off. Having the same concerns with dirt/rain ingress had the idea of using a breather membrane as used in roofs. I have't put the idea into practice yet but the intention is to cut out most of the plastic cover & to glue the membrane over the hole. I have discussed the idea with a roof membrane manufacturer & providing there isn't too much heat build up they think it may work. Will keep you advised.
