Default Confused by OBDCC II reading

Hi Friends, I bought (Finally) myself an OBDCCII reader in preparation for installing my new realtime temp guage.

I hooked the reader up last night to see if there were any codes stored. Only one code came up, P1111, and I thought I remembered that from previous discussions which said that code is normal, just shows that polling is working. What confused me is that after selecting my car as Jaguar, the reader added text to this code saying: "Intake Air Temp Sensor - unstable 125 degrees, Intermittent high voltage reading" (technically I should not have used quotes, I am reciting from memory, but it is very close to 100% accurate). The outside temperature was about 90 degress as of this reading. I did search for this answer and couldn't find anything in our archives. My question is: would you think this truely means there is an intermittent issue with the intake air temp sensor?

In case this helps (hope I don't confuse things): There were 2 levels of DTC codes, the "stored codes" were empty (none). This came up with realtime or running code display. Well thanks for taking a look, I appreciate your advice.

John

Do not trust the reader's code interpretations or code tables on the internet. The only accurate meaning are published in JTIS or using factory software.

P1111 is what you want to get...it is normal.

The reason is that P1 codes are by definition unique to each make, car, model, year. The reader would do far better to tell you that instead of a false meaning, but I suppose it was probably quite cheap and is what it is.

The jag codes & meanings are in JTIS, free download.
