Considering purchasing a 1997 xk8 with 80000 miles. Anything I should know before buying? Anything I should look for? How is the reliability of these cars? thanks guys!

If 'Woodhaven' is Queens, NY, and/or the car under review is from the NE, RUST - most especially if concealed - would be my personal number-one concern.

2003-2009 XJ8's with all-aluminium chassis/body (and - to be fair - far more complex 'tronics...) are out there at around 10 -12K, USD (just bought one).

There ARE NO 'ugly' Jaguars, nor any so slow over-the-ground that you cannot break yer neck or land in jail.

Some are just a tad nicer ... or more assertive ... than others...

There are two links in the sticky "XK8 & XKR 'HOW TO' / DIY Repair & Maintenance Links / Facts & Data" on the main page on what to look for and avoid.

+1

Especially look at the info there on:

1. tensioners (early plastic)
2. cooling system (water pump / thermostat)
3. transmission ('sealed for life' / fluid change)
