If you're thinking of buying either of those cars at an auction, run away. There's a reason cars show up at auctions (and I don't mean the show car auctions you see on TV, I mean regular dealer auctions). It's usually because they're too old or have way too many miles or problems for the new Jag/Aston dealers to want them on their lot. The second-rate used car lots scoff them up and sell them without warranties or records to unsuspecting chumps. A lot of junk moves through auctions - you really have to know what you are looking at.

And every new car will get killed in the initial drop. Someone with enough money to buy last years Jag/Aston can probably afford this years model and not worry about it, and/or get financing cheaper. Such is the life of depreciable assets.

I wasn't particularly thrilled with my first sighting of the "F"....however it does follow the "new" trend of the shorter, cropped rear body (ie., M/B, BMW, etc.), which definitely IMHO "ages" or "dates" our XK8/R's. I see this as going to the romance of the XK8/R's and pushes it more near the Benchmark it is certain to become.

I'm sure the "F" is loaded with modern technology, but again, it's not the best at even that endeavor were the XK8/R's lines ARE THE BEST of an era....

Long Live the Queen....Sink the Bismark

I love the look of the DB9 and the Bentley Continental GT. I am thinking of buying a CGT down the road. However, my XKR has been very reliable, daily drivable, inexpensive to operate, relatively easy to work on and worth around what I bought it for (I paid $10.6k in 2010 w/ 68k miles). Whenever I think of something else, I remember the car's been good to me and I still love it. It's not really even about money, it's just been a solid car.

If I bought a CGT, it would be a supplement to my XKR, not really replace it. I've enjoyed my 2000 XKR Vert quite a bit. Its been cheaper per year and mile than my previous C4 Corvette.

A while back I drove a DB9 on an exotic car drive and on the list of cars I would drive that day it was the one I most looked forward to and the one I absolutely hated. I have never been so disappointed in a car. It sounds and looks great, it drives like a big sedan.

The Continental is interesting but given what it costs to maintain one it wouldn't be on my list but can fully understand why someone would want one and you can buy them pretty cheap. But that is one car you'd want to make sure was well maintained because it is in RR class when it comes to parts.

Given those choices, I would go with the XKR-S. No competition!
