Convertable Top/ Hydraulic Oil
Hello All,
Will someone let me know what kind of Hydraulic Oil I should use for my Convertable Top Pump
[Multi-pupose Mineral based ??] ,it seems to be low & I had the same problem as the last Convertable Top Post. This is my 1st thread & would appreaciate the help, as I just purchased my XK8 about a month ago & I'm sure I will be asking for lots more help in the future. Thanks
PS I Love my XK8, & its a BLAST to drive. just want to know how can you XKR owners stay out of trouble Im finding it hard to keep mine under 55

Welcome to the wonderful world of Jaguar ownership! . . . and to the forum.
The top hydraulic system requires a fluid with unique properties. It must withstand the extreme heat of solar radiation and at the same time be relatively easy to clean up when the hoses rupture above the shift console and also not leave a disagreeable smell in the car's interior.
Jaguar chose Pentosin ch11s as the fluid most able to meet those requirements. It is available at NAPA for less than $20 per liter or about $45 at the Jaguar dealer.
Check out the FAQ sticky above for more information than you want on the subject.
Despite Jaguar's complete failure on this particular subject, I love my XK8 also.

The 'sticky's' are the top three posts on the forum.
https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/s...ad.php?t=20092
Then look down the list to the many FAQ subjects listed.
If you are low on fluid, you have a leak. Now you get to love the new toy even more. Read through the posts on the subject.
You will have to forgive my somewhat sarcastic responses on occasion. New members are always welcome.
