That sounds like a great idea I had not thought of. So did you scotchguard both the outside (canvas) as well as the inside? What did you use? I used Wolfsteins fabric protectant on the outside but have not done anything to the inside.

I use Raggtopp protectant. My first application, I taped off the areas around the top and sprayed many coats. Top still looks new for 9 years old. Also usually leave the top down with the top cover in place in the summer and I use the interior cover from California Car Cover when I park the car. Easy to put on and take off.

This looks nice George. How does it "attach" to the car - what keeps in on? Thanks for the suggestion - DaleD

I almost always use the cover. Only on a very short and slow trip will I leave is off. A quartering breeze will often try to lift the cover, and I'm definitely adding some Velcro before spring.

The rear uses that same attachments as the boot cover, the sides loop around the door handle and the front has Velcro loops around the wiper arms.

I found them pretty cheap on Ebay for $100.00. It took some bidding but was cheaper then purchasing at the dealer. They go for $200 all the time on ebay so fight it out and eventually one will go your way.

I've been looking since October. In that time only 1 has come up in the UK on ebay. I occasionally check international sellers and have never seen one.

As it happens, there is one there at the moment.

There is a guy I found on ebay who makes the tonneau's as well as the storage bag. I bought a bag from him (since I already had the tonneau) and was really impressed with this guy. His name is Charles Whitney and his ebay store is clwco (I believe he is physically located in the San Diego area). When I was talking with him on the phone he took quite a bit of pride in explaining to me how he had improved the tonneau design compared with the Jaguar oem design in terms of the materials he used and certain other design details. Here is a link to a current ebay sale from him:

Good luck.

Thanks, Doug.

Seems I've been using the wrong search terms! Looks like a quality item (but at a price - damned the falling pound!)

I use it, my wife... not so much. Light rains, road dirt, dust, sun etc... will dirty/discolor your headliner. I think the car looks better with it on. My wife likes to be able to raise/lower the top without having to deal with the cover.

I do have one issue with putting the cover on. It never seems to seal and sit correctly for me. Wind gets under it and most of the time I have to pull over at 70 or 80 to refasten it down or just take it off completely. It looks much better on but does not seem practical. Any ADVICE on that would be helpful when tying it down.

Hello,
Are you tucking the forward edge of the cover in or leaving it out? I tuck it in and have no problems.

I had asked but forget if anyone answered about the possibility of using something like ScotchGuard on the headliner. Is there any down side to doing so?

Hi,

See my earlier post in this string. I had the same problem with the cover lifting at higher speeds. The snaps weaken over time and if this cover comes off its front snaps at high speed it will beat the dickens out of the trunk lid.

To solve, I attached two pieces of velcro to the flap, equally spaced across its length. The back of the rear seat is carpet so if you use the correct piece of a velcro kit it will attach itself to the carpet. You must sew the velcro pieces onto the flap. Glue backing won't hold it.

The headliner of mine is a little bit grubby, possibly because the previous owner never used the cover when the hood was down. I've tried a variety cleaners with little success. Can anyone recommend anything?
