Convertible top latch hydraulic problem

The replacement hoses appear to be the same. It is important not to put stress on the crimp when reinstalling the replacement hoses, this appears to be one factor in the failures.
The repair kit was discontinued, likely because it did not last.
Consider the metal braided replacement Gus had developed (see www.jagrepair.com)

XK8 Convertible Top not opening completely -Latch
Hello fellow Jaglovers,
I have solved most of my repairs and problems through this forum and want to thank you for that. Most of my issues I could find in existing threads and I did not need to ask directly. But I have a problem with the convertible top on my 97 XK8. Everything was working fine until I replaced the passenger side back regulator and triangle window. The exchange was easy, but I needed to manually open the top to a 3/4 position, loosen the convertible mounting bracket to create space for the regulator. I then reassembled everything, reprogrammed the windows, and closed the top without a problem. But....NOW the top does open all the way, only the latch on the windshield does not retract. After driving open for 15 seconds, the error message appears "Convertible latch not locked" and I can see the latch sticking out of the window frame. I then stopped the car and closed the top with no problems. Then again, after opening the convertible top, the latch would not go down, and the signal tone for the operation to be completed does not sound. It only sounds when closing. I checked all fluid lines and levels, there are no leaks or any missing fluid. The velocity seems to be fine, not too thick. Is there a similar way to reprogram the top like the windows? And, since the top closes all the way, is it OK to drive even with the latch exposed? Thanks in advance.....
FYI...This forum saved me thousands....Thanks again.

Thanks again for the prompt response and pinpointing me to the cause and to the right spot... What happened is, that I forgot to reattach the RAM to the convertible top hinge while changing the back regulator. It was floating around freely. Luckily, it did not cause any damage. After reattaching the RAM to the hinge, my top now works perfect.....

It is all learning by doing. With the right advise, nothing seems to be a problem. Fixed so far through this forum: Seat Module by resoldering, Relay switch for side mirrors, Bulbs in the dash, back regulator, my original antenna, vanity mirror spring, front grille, eliminate squeaking from windshield vents, carpet cleaning after seat removal, side door panel securing with new pins. Especially with the circuit board soldering I was a little concerned. But it cost me a soldering iron at Radio Shack and one hour after following all instructions from this forum. Also, the information about the foam used in my model year leaving the canopy dirty saved me unnecessary scrubbing....
