Default Convertible Window Reset - won't hold in memory

HI,

I have an '02 XKR convertible and for the last year or so, the window reset will not stay. I roll the windows down, listen for click, roll windows up, listen for click and everything works fine for a day or two and then it stops working and i have to go through the same procedure again. Happens to both drivers and passenger door window which seems odd unless they are both controlled by the same mechanism.

Do I need something replaced and if so what? Or is there something else I need to do?

Thanks for the help!!

Kip

It may be your battery...the window problem is usually the first sign. Check the voltage with a multimeter at the battery with the engine off...if it is less than 12.25 volts or so, replace the battery.

Battery! Voltage on a weak battery will drop( 11 volts or less) during startup and cause memory loss.
A new group 49 battery could fix your problem.

You have described exactly the weak-battery indicator a.k.a. the automatic window stops.

My own lower limit for a battery after an overnight, in warm weather, would be around 12.35 volts. Anyway, anything under 12.5 is getting a little long in the tooth.

Default Battery

Ok, so I took that battery out, gave it a charge over night and today when I tested it, it reads 12v, thus, if I am reading this correctly, I should probably replace the battery.
Any suggestions on a good battery for the car?

Thanks,

Kip
