Recently I've intermittent low coolant level show up on the dash as I do not know when to coolant was changed in the car I decided to flush the coolant and replace it. This is where everything went sideways, I can't seem to find the right coolant. I searched the forums and found members comment that the right specification for the coolant is WSS M97 B44D but I can't see to find a coolant with that spec for my 98 xk8.
Went by to auto zone and the sales agents definitely do not know head or tail of coolant system and was making recommendations that didn't make sense (get any applicable coolant and top it off he said).
The ford engine on a european car makes the choices confusing. I buy most of my stuff from rock auto and rather than asking which coolant I should get I thought it might be easier to provide a few options and someone could help me select one. These options are from the ones RockAuto presented to me as alternatives for 98 xk8
Up to late '98 cars used the DOW (green, IIRC) coolant, after which there was a changeover to the Ford spec WSS M97 B44D (orange, usually).
You are wise to do a full flush if you're not 100% certain what's already in there (hence the warning about mixing types), after which you can use either DOW or WSS.
The part linked in your second post matches WSS. I changed over to that Ford spec at least 10 years back and have had no problems.
