Yes, you can buy the sensor separately.
I did because I thought that it wasn't included with the expansion tank.
But it was.

The part number is LNA5740AB

Appreciate all the help on the Forum. I am about to replace my reservoir tank (2004 XK8). An internet search for replacement found prices ranging from $31.00 to $151.00. Any suggestions on Manufacturers?

Normally I'd say go OE but if you want to save a few dollars, you can rely on this supplier only to offer quality aftermarket equivalents. I'd certainly suspect a tank at $31.00.
