a couple items for your wisdom
USA XK8 MY 2003
Have not had the opportunity to investigate either one. If you could put me on the short road for both, that would be appreciated.
1. Got the Low Coolant message, and sure enough coolant was low.
I have not noticed any drips, etc. The Spider hose (and I presume a top off on coolant) was done back in late Jun 2012 by a solid indy jag shop. Where should I be looking for this stuff to go when I do not see basic evidence of it.
2. After filling the coolant, closed the hood (bonnet) and had the Bonnet Open message. Tried again and same thing. Needless to say I am pulling on ther DS and alls good. Head over the the PS and I can pull the hood up from being locked down on that side only. Anyone experience this and be able to point me in a DIY fix?
Previously it had not given this message, so I presume the problem started tonight.
I'd spend the time to research but I am faced with:
1. New job so minimal free time and PTO
2. new work laptop with Win 7. So no current access to the J disk.
Not to mention you guys are better than the J disk anyways
So, until 1, 2 or both are addressed, Should I consider it off the road?

Regarding the coolant leak:
This is for 2003 and later only:
First have a pressure test done to attempt to detect leaks.
If none are found, it is likely that the black plastic outlet pipe/thermostat housing the the front of the engine has tiny hairline cracks at the seams which leak too slowly to be picked up by the pressure tester. This tends to happen on cars of your age.
Replace the entire assembly..it comes with a new thermostat and temperature sensor and a bunch of seals. The whole thing is under one part number and sells for around $100 at the dealer. Do not piecemeal replace parts of it, it will just spring a leak somewhere else. Part no. is AJ89486.

Re the bonnet - I can't quite follow your problem.
Are you saying the passenger side latch isn't engaging ?
They are cable operated - simple lubrication of the cable and latch mechanism may be all that's needed but be very sure the cables are in good condition and both latches move freely. Getting the bonnet stuck down is very bad news.

Jaguar do use the word 'slam'!
On the odd times it fails to catch both sides, I just pull the bonnet release inside the car, raise the bonnet approximately 12" and close it again.
Does a US vehicle display 'HOOD OPEN' or 'BONNET OPEN in the message centre?

Not unusual to have one side Bonnet lock fail to engage if it isn't closed in the recommended way:
