Cracked or Warped Rotor - is there a difference?

Be as it may, when I got my Jag back in March, it needed new brake pads. I figured that while at it, I may as well swap the rotors too. I purchased the front rotors from Brake Performance (online). When they arrived, they looked sweet and I was very exited to have them installed. Almost immediately after the installation, I observed steering wheel vibration when stopping from highway speeds. Turning to this forum, I was advised that the rotors may be warped. I took the car to a mechanic and, after an inspection of the same, he concluded that everything was fine with the rotors. Nonetheless, the vibration persisted. I was also advised to do a complete brake system fluid drain. I took the car to the dealer and had the system drained. The problem went away for a month, but only to return recently again. I took the car back to the mechanic and after putting the car on the lift and shining shop light at the rotor, I saw what appears to be a crack. I only drove the car about 3K miles since changing the brakes and rotors. What could have possibly gone wrong?

Thanks for the article link R.D.
I suppose that the bottom line is that one of my rotors has cracked and Brake Performance is honoring their life time warranty and sending me a set of two new rotors. The question of the day is whether or not I should be buying a new set of brake pads or use existing ones?

Sure, reuse as long as you liked them in the first place. 3K miles is nothing. OTOH, no more labor to go new since things are apart anyway. Adds another 3K before the next time.....
